About Us
Ben’s Liskeard is our fourth exciting adventure, after the success of our award-winning ‘Ben’s Plaice’ Looe, ‘Ben’s Plaice’ in Millbrook and the recently opened ‘Ben’s’ Mevagissey. Similar to Mevagissey, Liskeard has the combination of a takeaway and a licenced restaurant.

At the end of 2021, when we first signed on the dotted line for an old fish and chips shop premises in Looe, we were oblivious to the fact that this would be our first successful fish and chip business of many, and we would subsequently open our family-run takeways and restaurants in several locations.
‘Ben’s Plaice Looe’ is now a well-known, award-winning takeaway in this seaside town, attracting tourists and locals all year round, having been awarded first place as the ‘Best Fish and Chip Shop in Cornwall 2023.’ Next, we opened our second takeaway in a small village – ‘Bens Plaice Millbrook’, followed by ‘Ben’s Mevagissey’ in the popular Cornish fishing village – incorporating a takeaway and restaurant. This is a very busy tourist area during the summer months, but also serves the local residents.
Facts About Ben’s Liskeard
Ben’s Liskeard is situated in the historical market town of Liskeard, in Cornwall. It is set in a Grade II Listed Building (registered as listed in 1981), with history dating back to at least 1881, if not earlier. The building functioned as a town house until roughly 1935, after which time, it was utilised as a school. It has since been a shopping arcade, and more recently it briefly became home to ‘Hooked at Highwood’ in 2023, before closing its doors in 2024.
We have transformed the interior, and our fish and chip shop in Liskeard is open 7-days per week, serving our ‘infamous in Cornwall’ takeaway and restaurant food with table service. We are looking forward to getting to know locals and visitors, serving you with our signature, light and crispy fish and chips, plus a variety of dishes.
